Paso Robles teen suspected of liquor store break-ins

A Paso Robles 14-year-old was arrested Monday night on suspicion of breaking into two liquor stores.

The teenager allegedly used large rocks to smash the windows of the two stores, starting about 10:20 p.m., according to a Paso Robles Police Department news release. The suspect did not enter the first store, located on the 2800 block of Spring Street, but allegedly broke the first pane of a dual-paned window during his attempt.

The owner of another store on the 2000 block of Spring Street reported about 10:25 p.m. that his front door allegedly had been smashed and cigarettes had been stolen.

Officers put together a description of the suspect using video surveillance footage from the two stores and information from their owners. Police eventually found the suspect in Pioneer Park and arrested him about 11:50 p.m.

The teenager was taken to the San Luis Obispo County Probation Department on suspicion of burglary and vandalism.

Police encourage anyone with information about these incidents to call the Paso Robles Police Department at 805-237-6464 or Crime Stoppers at 805-549-7867 or submit a web tip from the Crime Stoppers website at www.slotips.org.
