A San Luis Obispo man was arrested Wednesday on suspicion of committing lewd acts upon a child.
Matthew Roland Betts, 44, was taken into custody after a 13-year-old said Betts, who was a family friend, had allegedly committed crimes against her when she was 10 years old, according to a San Luis Obispo Police Department news release.
The family had just learned of the alleged crimes before they contacted law enforcement. Betts was taken into custody on suspicion of lewd acts upon a child and forcible acts of sexual penetration. He was being held at the San Luis Obispo County Jail in lieu of $250,000 bail.
Betts was also arrested on suspicion of a similar crime in March, after he was observed at a friend’s house allegedly committing a lewd act against an 8-year-old girl.
