A man was arrested in Grover Beach on Sunday evening after he allegedly lit a bush on fire, tried to steal a bus, burglarized a home and stole a car before trying to run from officers on the beach.
Officers said they were called to the 300 block of Longbranch Avenue at 4:22 p.m. after a man tried to steal a bus and then hit a wooden shed. The man ran off before officers arrived.
While investigating the bus theft, the man, whom police later identified as David James Krause, 36, allegedly burglarized a home in the 100 block of South Third Street, taking multiple items.

According to the CHP Traffic Incident Information Page, the vehicle ran a red light at 5:18 p.m. and was all over the road, hitting curbs.
Shortly after, Krause crashed the car on Highway 1, south of West Grand Avenue and ran toward the beach, according to Grover Beach police. A 911 caller said she saw the man get out of a car just wearing underwear.
Police set up a perimeter, closing Highway 1 at the West Grand Avenue intersection, to find him.
After more investigating, police said Krause was also the person who lit a small bush on fire in the 900 block of West Grand Avenue at 1:47 that afternoon. Five Cities Fire Authority put out the fire before any structures were damaged.
Krause, a transient, was arrested on suspicion of burglary, three counts of theft of a vehicle, arson and resisting arrest. He was booked at County Jail, where bail was set at $330,000.
