UPDATE 8 p.m.: The SWAT team was able to enter the home during the afternoon, which is when they determined the deceased person was the male victim, Sheriff’s Office spokesman Tony Cipolla said. However, the suspect retreated into an upstairs bedroom when the SWAT team entered and fired shots at the officers. No one was hurt but the SWAT team left the home and called for a second armored vehicle to be brought to the scene, Cipolla said. Negotiators were attempting to call the suspect on her cell phone but hadn’t made any contact by 8 p..m., Cipolla said.

UPDATE 7:30 p.m. The SWAT team has determined that the deceased person in the home is the male victim. A negotiating team was still attempting to make contact with the suspect, who remained inside the house, Sheriff’s Office spokesman Tony Cipolla said.

STORY: One person was confirmed dead at a home in rural northwest Paso Robles on Saturday evening, after a report of a possible assault earlier in the afternoon.

The Sheriff’s Office received a call at about 3 p.m. reporting that a man possibly was assaulted by woman with a deadly weapon inside a home in the 4200 block of Old Nacimiento Drive, department spokesman Tony Cipolla said. The woman barricaded herself in the home and deputies, negotiators and a SWAT team responded and efforts were made to make contact with the suspect, Cipolla said.
