An Arroyo Grande man awoke in his home Tuesday morning to find an intruder standing in his hallway, police said Thursday.
At about 9:30 a.m., Arroyo Grande police responded to a report of a residential burglary in the 200 block of Alder Street.
When they arrived, they saw a man matching the description of the burglar standing in the yard of a nearby home, according to a news release.
Stephen Kellen Onaga, 30, of Arroyo Grande, was detained and identified by the resident as the man in his house.
The homeowner reportedly told police he was sleeping when he woke to see Onaga standing in his hallway. Police say Onaga fled with unspecified property when confronted.
That property was allegedly found on Onaga when he was apprehended, and he was booked into San Luis Obispo County Jail on suspicion of felony burglary and possession of stolen property.
He remained in custody in lieu of $50,000 bail Thursday morning.
