A Paso Robles resident who allegedly shot a man in his driveway over the weekend will make his first court appearance Wednesday after being formally charged with murder.

On Tuesday, the San Luis Obispo County District Attorney’s Office charged Thomas Nolan Yanaga, 52, of a single count of murder, plus an enhancement for using a firearm. He is accused of fatally shooting Marshall Savoy, 32, after midnight Saturday, in front of Yanaga’s home.

Yanaga, who has no significant prior criminal history in the county, will appear in court for his initial arraignment Wednesday.

Law enforcement has not yet disclosed a motive for the killing.

Savoy, nicknamed “Fuzz,” was the father of two young girls. A memorial service will be held for him March 21 at the Atascadero Bible Church, followed by a barbecue at the Atascadero Lake Park.
