A Grover Beach man was taken into custody on suspicion of attempted murder, domestic violence and other charges after police used a Taser and then tackled the suspect to stop him from fleeing on Saturday afternoon.
Grover Beach police responded to a call of domestic violence in the 1000 block of Pacific Boulevard at about 2:18 p.m., according to a news release.
They found the suspect, Nicolas Joseph Lopez, 36, had left on foot after allegedly injuring a woman by choking and punching her numerous times, and also vandalizing the home and a vehicle.
Police found Lopez hiding in bushes near the Grover Beach Train Depot and Highway 1, where he resisted multiple orders to surrender, the release said. Officers first used a Taser without success and then one officer tackled Lopez in the Highway 1 roadway, in order to take him into custody.
Lopez was booked into County Jail on suspicion of attempted murder, felony domestic violence, felony resisting officers and vandalism. Lopez was being held in lieu of $500,000 bond on Saturday evening.
