A suspect in a stabbing that occurred Sunday night at De Vaul Park turned himself in on Monday, San Luis Obispo police said.

Geffery Stephenson, 19, of San Luis Obispo was booked into San Luis Obispo County Jail on suspicion of felony assault with a deadly weapon and was being held on $25,000 bail in connection with a stabbing that occurred at 10:50 p.m. Sunday at the park on Madonna Road.

On Sunday night, police found a stabbing victim at a picnic table at the park with a wound to the left torso that punctured a lung, a news release said. The victim was taken to Sierra Vista Regional Medical Center and was in stable condition Monday.

The stabbing occurred after an argument allegedly turned into a physical confrontation between Stephenson and the victim, police said. Stephenson’s cell phone, credit cards and California ID were found at the scene.

Police said the investigation into the incident is ongoing.
