Suspect on Most Wanted list for lewd acts against children turns himself in

A man on the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Department’s Most Wanted list turned himself in Friday and was booked into County Jail on suspicion of 20 felony counts of a lewd act upon a child under age 14.

Paul Jacob Speer, 39, was featured on the department's Facebook page on July 23. The posting said Speer was last known to live in Nipomo.

According to the County Jail website, Speer was booked into jail at about 5:30 p.m. and is being held on a $1 million bail.

Sheriff’s Sgt. Andy Rasmussen said a warrant had been issued for Speer’s arrest and that he had turned himself in, but no further details were available Saturday.
