Clarification: An earlier version of this story identified the suspect as Brian Michael Rodriguez Galvan; according to San Luis Obispo County sheriff's spokesman Tony Cipolla, that was an alias; the suspect's real name is Brian Michael Rodriguez.

A Cambria man allegedly stabbed his pregnant girlfriend early Sunday, San Luis Obispo County sheriff’s officials said.

Police went to the 6200 block of Green Valley Road in Cambria at 12:01 a.m., responding to reports that a woman had been stabbed by a man.

Police say Brian Michael Rodriguez, 25, stabbed his pregnant common-law wife several times, causing serious injury to the victim. The woman was taken to an undisclosed hospital; authorities said her injuries were serious but not life-threatening.

Several children were at the residence at the time of the attack, sheriff's officials said, but no one else was injured.

Rodriguez, who was on parole at the time of the incident, was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and booked into County Jail, with his bail set at $1 million. As of 1 p.m. Sunday, bail had not been posted.
