An Oceano man was arrested on suspicion of drunken driving following a rollover collision early Saturday morning on Highway 101 in Arroyo Grande.
Reports of the crash came at 1:36 a.m., according to Sgt. Don Coats of the CHP.
Raymond Mendoza, 21, was driving a 2014 Nissan Sentra northbound on Highway 101 just north of El Campo Road when he rear-ended a van, Coats said, adding that witnesses said Mendoza was traveling at a high rate of speed.
The car drove up an embankment, then down again before overturning and sliding across the roadway, Coats said, blocking the center lane and spreading debris across the highway.

According to Coats, the driver and passenger of the van were uninjured.
Mendoza and his passenger, an unidentified male friend, were uninjured but transported to Sierra Vista Regional Medical Center in San Luis Obispo as a precaution, Coats said. Upon his release, Mendoza was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol and booked into County Jail.
Coats said the scene was cleared within an hour of the collision.
The Arroyo Grande Police Department, Cal Fire and Five Cities Fire Authority also responded to the incident.
