A Pismo Beach couple was arrested last week after the boyfriend allegedly sent a greeting card that contained methamphetamine to his girlfriend, who was in jail at the time.
Samantha Jo Long, 29, and Jason Todd Hunter, 44, face several charges, including bringing/sending a controlled substance to jail, conspiracy to commit a crime and possession of a controlled substance for sale.
According to the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Office, a deputy at the jail intercepted a greeting card addressed to Long on Dec. 11 that contained a white powdery substance wrapped in plastic and hidden between two sections of the card. The substance later tested positive for methamphetamine.
No arrests were made at the time, and Long was released in her unrelated case. Upon further investigation, detectives with the narcotics unit identified Hunter as the person who sent the card, and the couple was located at a motel in Pismo Beach. When detectives arrested the couple on a warrant Dec. 23, two ounces of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia were allegedly found in their possession.
