Two Paso Robles men were arrested Thursday night for allegedly robbing a grocery store to steal a 20-pack of beer, according to a news release from the Paso Robles Police Department.
A clerk from the Smart & Final store at 2121 Spring St. reported that just before 6:40 p.m., two men attempted to steal a pack of beer so the employee, whose name was not disclosed, tried to stop them. One of the men then reportedly beat the clerk in the head with brass knuckles before the pair fled the scene, according to the news release. The clerk received minor injuries, the release states.
The police officers who responded to the robbery recognized one of the men on the store’s surveillance video, and they tracked down suspects Heriberto Rodriguez II, 23, and Jaime Gil Jr., 18, at a home on 30th Street.
Rodriguez was arrested on suspicion of robbery and assault with a deadly weapon, both felonies; Gil was arrested on suspicion of felony robbery and a probation violation.

Both were booked into San Luis Obispo County Jail and are being held in lieu of $60,000 bail, according to online jail records.
