A driver under the influence of methamphetamine was the primary cause of a crash that killed two people in Grover Beach on April 2, according to a news release from the Grover Beach Police Department.
Driver Raymond Cano, 49, and his wife, Kimberly Cano, 46, were in a 1994 Ford pickup truck that hit a large tree in the 900 block of El Camino Real. They were most recently residents of Arroyo Grande.
Emergency personnel found the truck resting on its driver's side with the Canos dead inside the cab, according to the news release.
The investigation also found that other contributing factors included “improper turning movements created when the vehicle veered off the roadway” and an unsafe speed — approximately 50 mph — for the roadway conditions, the news release said.
