A 28-year-old man was arrested by CHP and Pismo Beach police officers for allegedly driving under the influence and resisting arrest after he ran away from officers, only to be caught 30 minutes later.
According to a CHP news release, Dustin Louis Palmer, a Grover Beach man, was driving erratically southbound on Highway 101 at about 3 p.m. Monday. CHP Officer Javier Garcia found Palmer's white Ford Taurus and directed him off the freeway at the Five Cities Drive exit.
Palmer pulled off and drove behind a Jack in the Box restaurant, and then got out of his car, jumped over a freeway fence and ran east back across Highway 101, the news release says. Garcia lost sight of Palmer, who had continued east on Highland Street.
Pismo Beach officers then joined in and Palmer was captured a half hour later. The news release did not specify where he was arrested.
