Man gets 25 years to life in Paso killing

Unable to withdraw his guilty plea, a Paso Robles man was sentenced this week to 25 years to life in prison for a murder that occurred at a Paso Robles motel last year.

Alfonso “Pancho” Fierros, 33, had originally been scheduled for sentencing in August for the murder of Robert Uyeno, 55.

Uyeno was beaten, stabbed and had his throat slashed during a meth-driven robbery that turned deadly at the Farmhouse Motel in August of 2011.

Two other defendants, Jennifer Velten, 29, of Paso Robles and Tabatha Brown, 29, of San Luis Obispo, have already received 15- and 14-year terms respectively. A final suspect, John Wesley Barrett, 42, of Atascadero, has been declared incompetent to stand to trial.
