A man was arrested Wednesday after allegedly grabbing a 9-year-old girl's belt loop and pulling her as she was Rollerblading in San Luis Obispo with her family.
The girl was waiting to cross Broad Street at South street with her mother and 6-year-old sibling at 1:15 p.m. when the man, later identified as Jaime Hernandez, allegedly approached her from behind and grabbed her belt loop, according to police. He then pulled her as he continued to walk and reportedly glared at her.
The girl spun around slightly, according to a news release from the San Luis Obispo Police Department, but she was able to maintain her balance, pull away, and leave the curb with her family.
The girl, who was behind her mother during the incident, told her what happened and they immediately went to the nearby fire station make a report.

Officers said they recognized the man from the description they were given as a transient they had contacted earlier in the day while on park patrol.
Officers searched the area and found Hernandez, 44. He was identified as the suspect and arrested on suspicion of battery.
Officers say there was nothing to suggest the crime was sexual in nature, and there have been no other recent reports of similar incidents.
Hernandez was booked into County Jail, where he is being held without bail for a parole violation. He is on parole for a previous battery arrest.
