Four arrested after probation checks by DUI task force

Four arrests were made for probation violation involving felony DUI convictions following an Aug. 30 check by the "Avoid the 14" DUI Task Force.

Of the 21 people authorities contacted, 13 were in compliance with the terms and conditions of probation and eight were determined to be in violation of probation. The four arrests included: Roy Pelton, 35, of Atascadero; Jason Bath, 50, of Morro Bay; Jonathon Spencer, 37, of Creston and Danny Thornton, 57, of San Luis Obispo.

Three of those authorities tried to contact were either no longer residing in their reported residences and did not report to their parole officers, which constituted a violation, or were not home but there was evidence of violations.

In one case, according to authorities, the individual was unable to be booked into the County Jail due to medical reasons, but was in violation of probation for drinking alcohol.

The “Avoid the 14” DUI Task Force is comprised of members of the San Luis Obispo County Probation Department, San Luis Obispo Police Department, Morro Bay Police Department and Cal Poly Police Department, and is grant funded by the California Office of Traffic Safety.
