The Sheriff’s Office arrested a 45-year-old Los Osos paroleeon suspicion of fraud, burglary, and possession of a controlledsubstance Monday, after finding materials that could be used tocreate fake credit cards the agency has accused him of using.
The Narcotics Task Force, acting on a tip, arrested Richard JosephSams at his room at the Farmhouse Motel in Paso Robles,and warned that he may have a large number of local victims. He wasbooked into County Jail.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, investigators found items “thatwould commonly be used to create fake credit cards and counterfeitchecks, including printers, label makers and blank checks.”
They also discovered marijuana, illegal prescription drugs and drugparaphernalia, they said.
The Sheriff's Office is urging residents to “keep an eye on their bankstatements.” If they notice discrepancies or think their personalidentification has been compromised, they are advised to contact local police.
