Police looking for suspects after attack at Atascadero's Sunken Gardens

Atascadero police are asking the public’s assistance in locating three men who allegedly assaulted a 20-year-old man and stole his wallet and cell phone nearly two weeks ago in Sunken Gardens Park.

Police were called to Twin Cities Community Hospital in Templeton about 9:45 p.m. on Aug. 18 after they received a report of a man who had been assaulted in the city park earlier that evening, according to a news release from the department.

The victim, who was not identified, told police he was physically assaulted with an unknown object by at least one person, possibly three. The primary suspect was described as tall with dark hair.

The 20-year-old had major injuries, including multiple fractures to his face, according to police.

The suspects left the scene in a black Pontiac. Anyone with information regarding the incident is asked to contact San Luis Obispo County Crime Stoppers at (805) 549-7867 or Detective Nick Coughlin at 470-3204.
