A Santa Maria man charged with murder in the drive-by shooting of a 17-year-old Oceano boy had his pre-preliminary hearing, scheduled for Wednesday, postponed until August.

Armando Yepez, 21, has pleaded not guilty to the murder of Gabriel Salgado, who was shot to death Nov. 17 on the 1700 block of 21st Street in Oceano.

His pre-preliminary hearing was rescheduled by Judge Ginger Garrett for Aug. 8 at 11 a.m., and Yepez’s preliminary hearing is scheduled for Aug. 13 at 1:30 p.m.

He charges also include committing a crime to benefit a street gang and a possible enhanced penalty because of a prior strike on his record from a conviction of assault with a deadly weapon and committing a crime to benefit a street gang in 2007.
