Suspect in Grover Beach stabbing is sought by police

A 37-year-old man considered armed and dangerous is being sought by Grover Beach police after he allegedly stabbed a man in an early-morning attack.

According to a police news release, suspect Armando Campos pushed his way into a house in the 1600 block of Longbranch Avenue at 4 a.m. Wednesday. Once inside, he allegedly stabbed Ryan Merritt, 31, multiple times in the chest and head. Campos then fled in a red Ford pickup, which has a California license plate number of 5L65227.

Merritt was taken to Marian Medical Center in Santa Maria, and is listed in serious condition, according to Lt. John Bewick of Grover police.

Campos is 5 feet 10 inches tall, weighs 185 pounds and has brown hair and brown eyes. Anyone with information on his whereabouts should call Grover Beach police or Crime Stoppers at 549-STOP.
