Man accused of sexually abusing children pleads not guilty

An Orcutt resident arrested on suspicion of sexually abusing two children pleaded not guilty today in court.

Scott A. San Agustin, 38, was arrested in San Luis Obispo on Oct. 6 on suspicion of six felony charges that include rape and lewd or lascivious acts with a child.

Police took a report on the alleged sexual abuse of two children younger than 10 and a third adult victim.

The abuse alleged to have happened in San Luis Obispo County against all three victims was investigated by the Grover Beach Police Department.

San Agustin remains in custody in County Jail in lieu of $500,000 bail. His next court appearance will be a pre-preliminary hearing on Nov. 17 before Judge Barry LaBarbera.

The prosecutor handling the case is Daniel Dow, and Patricia Ashbaugh was appointed the public defender.
