Grover Beach man was robbed, kidnapped and carjacked this morning, police say

Grover Beach police are investigating a home-invasion robbery, kidnapping and carjacking that happened this morning in the 400 block of Manhattan Avenue.

Police said a man entered an unlocked home between 6 and 6:30 a.m. and demanded cash from the home’s occupant, an adult male.

The robber then ordered the victim to drive him away from the house in the victim’s black 2006 Hummer H3. The victim, whose name was not released, drove south on Highway 101 and east on Highway 166. Once they’d reached a desolate location, police said, the robber ordered the victim to stop the vehicle, forcibly removed him at gunpoint, and continued to drive east on Highway 166.

The victim, who had minor scratches, was driven back to Grover Beach by a passing motorist. Police have alerted authorities in Kern County of the stolen vehicle.

The robber is described as white, in his late 30s to early 40s, about 5 feet 11 inches to 6 feet tall, and last seen wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and blue jeans, according to police.
