A Minnesota man accused of abandoning his 11-year-old son was arrested in Cambria today.

Steven Alexander Cross, 60, was arrested by San Luis Obispo County sheriff’s deputies at 2:45 p.m. at Burton and Main streets in Cambria on a warrant out of Minnesota. He faces misdemeanor charges of child neglect for abandoning his son after a bank foreclosed on his home in Lakeville, Minn., according to the St. Paul Pioneer Press.

He was traced to San Luis Obispo County after reservations for a three-night stay in Morro Bay were discovered on his computer.

Police considered him an endangered missing person because he left notes behind when he fled knowing that additional charges would be filed against him.

Detectives canvassed the area last week but were unable to locate him or his Ford Windstar van. A patrol deputy spotted the van today and took Cross into custody.
