San Luis Obispo police arrested a 21-year-old San Luis Obispo man early this morning after he allegedly stabbed his ex-girlfriend in an attempt to kill her, according to a news release.
Police located John Charles Ramos after he entered French Hospital Medical Center and told staff there “he needed help because he had just stabbed his girlfriend,” police stated in the release.
Police had received several calls from Ramos’ family and friends about 3:10 a.m., stating that he was possibly suicidal and headed to the area of his ex-girlfriend’s residence.
While responding to the location in the 1700 block of Santa Barbara Avenue, officers received a 911 call from the 26-year-old woman saying she had just been stabbed by Ramos, police said. They found her with several stab wounds to her arm, shoulder and breast area. She was taken to Sierra Vista Regional Medical Center; her condition this afternoon was not immediately available.
After police received the call from French Hospital, officers responded there and arrested Ramos without incident on suspicion of attempted murder.
He remains in San Luis Obispo County Jail this afternoon in lieu of $500,000 bail.
