Mail stolen from Pismo Beach drop boxes, police say

Pismo Beach police are warning local residents that some mail was stolen when mail drop boxes were broken into during the past week.

The first theft happened sometime between 5 p.m. Thursday and 7 a.m. Friday, when an unknown person broke into the mail drop boxes located in front of the U.S. Post Office at 100 Crest Drive in Pismo Beach, according to a news release from Pismo Beach Detective Sgt. Steve Weir.

An unknown amount of mail was taken.

The second theft happened at the mail drop box at 851 Price St. in Pismo Beach between Saturday at 2:41 p.m. and Sunday at 9 a.m.

Investigators are working to identify those responsible for the thefts, Weir said. Anyone with questions or information can contact him at 773-2208.
