A 27-year-old San Luis Obispo man was arrested Wednesday night after police were called to the 2900 block of Augusta Court after being told that a pregnant female was being assaulted and choked.
Robert Jamal Brown was arrested on multiple charges including domestic violence and false imprisonment after eluding officers who searched for him for more than three hours.
Police said the victim, who is not being named, was forced to the ground when she attempted to get away from Brown and was rendered unconscious during the assault. When officers arrived, Brown fled on foot through Sinsheimer Park toward the railroad tracks, police said.
Officers from the San Luis Obispo Police Department, San Luis Obispo Sheriff's Department, California Highway Patrol and California State Parks Department searched the area for three hours, using night-vision goggles, a CHP Air Unit and a State Parks K-9, but weren't able to find him.
Brown later turned himself in to the San Luis Obispo Police Department, where he was arrested.
Brown was booked into County Jail on charges of domestic violence, false imprisonment, battery causing great bodily injury, preventing an emergency phone call, battery, vandalism, resisting arrest and two outstanding warrants. He is being held on $110,000 bail.
