An Arroyo Grande man led police on a chase through Grover Beach on Saturday night that ended with him rolling his vehicle on Grand Avenue, according to the Pismo Beach Police Department.
Police reportedly tried to stop Augustin Sarabia, 25, after seeing him drift out of his lane on southbound Highway 101 near the Five Cities Drive exit in Pismo Beach.
Police signaled to Sarabia to exit the freeway. But Sarabia took off on El Camino Real, turned right on Oak Park Boulevard, and then ran several stop signs in Grover Beach at speeds of 40 to 50 miles per hour, police said.
Sgt. Steve Weir said that the suspect collided with a parked vehicle on 16th Street and eventually lost control on Grand Avenue and crashed.
Sarabia, who police say had slurred speech and alcohol on his breath, suffered minor injuries. He was arrested on suspicion of drunken driving, driving with a suspended license, hit and run, and evading police, Weir said.
