A San Luis Obispo man was arrested early Sunday after allegedly being caught spray-painting graffiti at Stenner Glen student housing complex.

Around 2:30 a.m., a Stenner Glen staff member spotted a man shaking a can of spray paint and then spraying letters on a wall, according to a news release from San Luis Obispo police. The staff member, with the help of several Stenner Glen residents, managed to detain the man until police arrived.

The suspect, identified as 19-year-old Michael Joseph Botill Jr., was questioned by officers, who reportedly found several other walls with similar-looking graffiti at Stenner Glen and Mustang Village, according to the news release.

Botill was arrested on suspicion of felony vandalism and booked into County Jail in lieu of $10,000 bail.
