Masked man with gun robs San Luis Obispo movie theater, police say

An armed man robbed the Fremont Theatre in downtown San Luis Obispo on Wednesday night, police say.

Around 11:12 p.m., a man walked into an unlocked office at the movie theater on Monterey Street, brandished a handgun and demanded money from an employee, according to a news release from San Luis Obispo police. He left with an undisclosed amount of cash. Officers searched the area but weren't able to find him.

The robber is described as about 20 to 30 years old, 5 feet 6 inches tall with a thin build. He had a distinct "high-pitched" voice, the employee told police. The robber, clad in a black jacket, pants and gloves, also wore a black mask with holes cut out for his eyes and mouth.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call the San Luis Obispo Police Department at 781-7317.
