Police on Tuesday arrested a parolee accused in last week’s burglary of a Morro Bay church.
Edward Spencer Johnson, 41, was booked into County Jail on Tuesday, where he was being held without bail.
On Monday, a tip that that someone was trying to sell some stolen property led officers to a home on Fresno Avenue near Olive Street, according to the Morro Bay Police Department.
There they found Johnson — who already had an outstanding local misdemeanor arrest warrant — and many of the items reported stolen from the church, according to police.
On Sept. 8, the Calvary Evangelical Lutheran Church of Morro Bay was broken into, police said, and several thousands of dollars worth of electronic gear, projection equipment and computers were stolen.
That was one of three recent burglaries in that area around Monterey Avenue and Anchor Street, according to police. But investigators have not been able to link Johnson to those burglaries, police said.
