A 27-year-old Atascadero man has been arrested for allegedly stabbing a man in downtown San Luis Obispo.

Harley Paul Finney was arrested at his home at 12:20 p.m. Friday, according to Sgt. Keith Storton of the San Luis Obispo Police Department. He was booked into County Jail without bail on suspicion of attempted murder and assault with a deadly weapon.

Storton said that 19-year-old Chad Robinson of San Luis Obispo was walking in the 600 block of Higuera Street on Tuesday night when Finney and another man came upon him. One of the men pulled out a knife and began stabbing Robinson, according to Storton, while the other began kicking him in the head and body.

Robinson was rushed to Sierra Vista Regional Medical Center where he was admitted with non-life-threatening injuries, said Storton.

Detectives gathered enough information to identify Finney. Storton said investigators continue to pursue leads as they search for the second suspect. Anyone with information that might help detectives can call 781-7317 or Crime Stoppers at 549-STOP.
