A 23-year-old man from Guadalupe was Tasered and arrested Thursday after leading authorities on a mile-long foot chase in southern San Luis Obispo.

Raymond Federick Abernathy was spotted driving erratically on a motorcycle on Valley Road in Arroyo Grande by Cal Fire Battalion Chief Andy Andersen. Abernathy allegedly crossed a double yellow line and drove head-on toward a car coming from the opposite direction.

Abernathy fled at a high speed when the Cal Fire chief attempted to pull him over.

Authorities used his license plate number to track him to Otis Auto Body in San Luis Obispo, where he works, prompting Andersen to request the assistance of the San Luis Obispo Police Department.

Abernathy led the Cal Fire chief and police on a foot chase for more than a mile, evading officers even after being Tasered by San Luis Obispo police officers, before he was caught in a nearby sourdough bread factory.

Abernathy has two outstanding warrants in Santa Barbara County.
