A man from Maine was arrested Thursday night after he allegedly attacked his traveling companions while at Pirate's Cove.

The three tourists were at Cave Landing at 9:45 p.m. when Jody Lee Daniel, 41, attacked Laura Vomorde, whom he was traveling with, sheriff's officials said. The third person in the group, Thomas Hines, was allegedly assaulted when he came to Vomorde's aide.

During the altercation, Daniel got a wooden billy club-like stick from the car and chased Hines, according to officials. He also allegedly began breaking the windows of the car, which he does not own.

At one point, Hines armed himself with a hatchet, officials said, but it was never used.

Daniel was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon and vandalism. He is being held at County Jail without bail.
