A San Luis Obispo man was arrested early Sunday on suspicion of drunken driving after allegedly hitting a pedestrian with his car.

Shivang Patel, 23, was driving north on Santa Rosa Street approaching Oak Street around 2:42 a.m. when his Nissan Sentra struck a man crossing the street, according to San Luis Obispo police.

The pedestrian, Kelly Parker, 26, of Manhattan Beach, suffered moderate injuries to his legs and face, police said, and was taken to the hospital for treatment. His injuries were not considered life-threatening.

Officers determined Patel had been drinking before the crash, and arrested him on suspicion of felony driving under the influence. Patel was booked into County Jail with bail set at $100,000.
