San Luis Obispo police chased a man with a gun into an apartment building and took him into custody Friday morning.
Police got a call of a man with a gun at about 10 a.m. near Ella and Henry streets, in the residential neighborhood near French Hospital Medical Center, according to a news release.
As officers approached, the man ran away and disappeared into an apartment complex. When police determined which unit he was in and ordered him to come out, the man complied and was taken into custody, the release said.
A search of the apartment turned up a semiautomatic .40-caliber handgun, which the suspect allegedly stole earlier that morning, police said. The suspect had previously been convicted of a felony and served time in prison, the release said.
