More than 25 wine-tasting rooms burglarized in North County

The San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a series of burglaries targeting winery tasting rooms in the Templeton and Paso Robles areas.

More than 25 tasting rooms have been burglarized in recent months, including one in the last week, resulting in the loss of a few thousand dollars, according to a Sheriff’s Office news release.

Investigators believe the suspect breaks into tasting rooms and takes a small amount of cash from the register, the release said. No other items have been taken, according to investigators, and there is no evidence of vandalism.

The incidents have been random in nature — occurring in different areas on different days — but because of the similarities of the crimes, investigators believe it may be the work of one person.

The Sheriff’s Office encourages the public to call 805-434-4290 if they see someone or something suspicious. To submit an anonymous tip, contact Crime Stoppers at 805-549-7867.

Crime Stoppers is offering a $1,000 reward for information about the crime that leads to the arrest and conviction of those responsible.
