An unidentified man attempted to lure an 11-year-old elementary school student into his car Wednesday morning in Grover Beach, police said.
Authorities said the student was on his way Grover Beach Elementary School about 8 a.m. Wednesday, when he was approached by a white male driving a black four-door Subaru.
The man, reportedly about 40 years old, asked the student if he wanted a ride to school in the 1500 block of Longbranch Avenue, according to Grover Beach Police Cmdr. Angelo Limon.
“The student wisely refused the ride and continued on his way to school, where he reported it to school staff,” Limon said.

The man was wearing a black hat and orange shirt and was last seen traveling eastbound on Longbranch Avenue. Limon said the Police Department notified other law enforcement agencies and the two other elementary schools in Grover Beach.
“We encourage all parents to talk to their children about “stranger danger” scenarios,” Limon said. “If they are confronted by someone that they feel poses a risk, those children should immediately report it to their parents, school staff or another responsible adult.”
