A woman is accused of cutting a man’s throat at a Bishop Peak trailhead on Saturday evening, the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Office said. The man was taken to the hospital, where he was treated for his injuries and released.
About 6:45 p.m., authorities responded to the Bishop Peak trailhead on Foothill Boulevard after they received multiple calls reporting a man bleeding from his neck at the trailhead, the Sheriff’s Office said. When they arrived, they found a man with a large cut across his neck.
The 55-year-old man, who is from Atascadero, told people at the scene that his girlfriend had cut his throat, officials said.
As deputies and detectives searched the area for the suspect, they received calls about a woman seen running away from the crime scene and into a neighborhood on Cerro Romauldo Avenue. Police found the woman hiding in some bushes.
The woman, Erika Christine Deherrera, 40, of San Luis Obispo, was arrested and taken to County Jail on suspicion of attempted murder, officials said. She is being held at the jail in lieu of $500,000 bail, according to jail records.
