Plan for growth in San Miguel ready for public’s review

County planners have completed proposed updates to the San Miguel Community Plan.

At 7 p.m. Monday, the proposals will be reviewed and discussed at the San Miguel CSD office, 1150 Mission St.

SLO County Supervising Planner Rob Fitzroy will present the updates, answer questions and take comments. They focus on changes in land use in parts of the town and adjoining areas to permit orderly and structured growth.

Major rezones are suggested on Indian Valley Road, Cemetery Road and at the east end of 11th Street. Targeted rezones are on L Street between 11th and 12th streets, N Street and Upper Mission Street. Information is available on county website planning pages or by calling 805-781-5600.

Old Timers Picnic

The 64th annual Lions Club Old Timers Picnic will be held from noon to 3 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 28 at the San Miguel Park on K Street.

The chicken barbecue dinner is $12 per plate. Old timers 80 years of age and over are get the meal for free. There is special recognition for the oldest man and woman attending. This is the first public event for this year’s Pioneer Day Royalty — Queen June Klintworth Bertoni with her attendants, Marshall John Bertoni, and Belle Marina Smeltzer with the belle attendants.

Upcoming meetings

A special meeting of the San Miguel CSD Board will be held Thursday night at the CSD office. Public session begins at 7 p.m.

The San Miguel Advisory Council meets Wednesday at 7 p.m. at the Community Building in the park. County planner Rob Fitzroy will discuss proposed changes in the San Miguel Community Plan.
