A magic show, pancakes, back-to-school and more from San Miguel

On Thursday at 3 p.m., the San Miguel Library will present a magic show. Enjoy being surprised and mesmerized and cool at the library in the park next to the ballfield.

Come for pancakes

The San Miguel Seniors’ pancake breakfast will be Sunday from 8 to 11 a.m.

Pancakes, scrambled eggs, sausage links, coffee and orange juice are on the menu. Enjoy breakfast with friends, old and new, at the Senior Center, 601 12th St.

Chamber meeting

The San Miguel Chamber of Commerce will hold its annual meeting and elections on Tuesday, Aug. 2, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at the Senior Center. Elections will be followed by assumption of office and discussion of projects. Refreshments will be served. This is an important meeting for all Chamber members.

Back to school

Aug. 17 is the first day of school for the San Miguel School District, K-8. Lillian Larsen School is at 1601 L St.; phone 805-467-3216. Cappy Culver School is at 11011 Heritage Loop Road at Lake Nacimiento; phone 805-227-1040. Register by Aug. 8.

Firefighters needed

The San Miguel Fire Department is still recruiting volunteer firefighters. Contact fire Chief Rob Roberson or Assistant Chief Kelly Dodds at the CSD office downtown or call 805-467-3300.
