San Miguel school board has two seats up for re-election

The San Miguel Joint Union School Board will meet Thursday evening in the library at Lillian Larsen School, 1601 L St. The calendar for the 2016-17 school year is available on the school website,

Curt Dubost will continue as school superintendent; Judy Bedell is principal.

The seats of board members Bandy J. Smith and Steve Christian are up for re-election on Nov. 8. These are four-year terms. Call the county Clerk-Recorder’s Office in San Luis Obispo at 805-781-5080 for information about nomination papers.

Advisory council

The San Miguel Advisory Council will meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday, July 27, at the Community Building behind the library in the park. County parks representative Elizabeth Kavanaugh will speak about changes on L Street, between 12th and 13th streets, for the park plans.

There will also be a speaker to discuss the half-cent tax proposed by San Luis Obispo Council of Governments for local roads and other needs. It will be on the November ballot.

Chamber mixer

The San Miguel Chamber of Commerce hosted and was delighted at the large number of guests who attended the annual North County Chambers Mixer held last Thursday evening at The Vines RV Resort. The crowd enjoyed networking, food, live music and competing for prizes.

Bingo on Friday

San Miguel Seniors will host bingo starting at 6 p.m. Friday at the Senior Center on East 12th Street. They play 10 games; cards are 50 cents each and refreshments are free.
