Cambria Little League teams fall to opponents

The Cambria Reds took it on the chin in their Little League game against the Morro Bay Brewers on Saturday, April 18, at the Leffingwell baseball field in Cambria.

The score was 18-1, and coach Gary Stephenson said his team was held to just a few hits; Zack Stephenson had two, Magnus Marthaler had a pair, and Emany Plasencia had one, as well.

David Amodei made some good defensive plays, Stephenson said.

Meanwhile, the Cambria Giants (AAA-level Little League) lost to the Los Osos Braves 13-1 on Saturday, April 18, in Los Osos.  Coach Matt Saunders reported that Robert Saunders and Dan Volz handled the pitching; for Volz, whose older brother, Chase, pitches for the Broncos at Coast Union, it was his first time on the mound for the Giants. Alex de Alba scored the Giants’ lone run.

On Tuesday, April 21, the Morro Bay Dodgers defeated the Giants 13-4. Jovian Merlos and Robert Saunders handled the pitching for the Giants.
