The Cambria Cardinals AAA Little League team defeated the Morro Bay Orioles 12-7 on Saturday, April 11, thanks to some timely hitting from Ryan Kasper, Cyrus Tatham and Andy Garcia.

Coach Brian Wright praised the three pitchers — Jonathan Cleave, Aidan Kasper and Alan Nunez (who also belted a two-run homer) — and catcher Morgan Walker-Whitebear. The defense was led by Emiliano Peña, Bryson Martinez, Kasper and Henry Wright.

The Cardinals played the Dodgers on Wednesday, April 15.

Meanwhile, the Cambria Reds Intermediate Little League squad went down at the hands of the undefeated Los Osos Red Sox 11-6 on Saturday, April 11. Notwithstanding the loss, Coach Gary Stephenson said it was his team’s best showing thus far this season.

“We had a few errors that hurt, but this is the best hitting Reds team I’ve ever coached, and they all put the ball in play Saturday.”

The Reds used three pitchers: Zachery Stephenson, David Amodei and Emmany Plasencia.

On Tuesday, April 14, the Reds played the Los Osos Yankees and lost, 6-3. David Amodei and Magnus Marthaler pitched effectively and Michael Sison (catcher) and Ethan Hoffman (third base and center field) also played well for the Reds, Stephenson reported.

The next Reds’ home game is at 10 a.m. Saturday against the Morro Bay Brewers.
