After a 15-day stretch in which the Lady Broncos — leading the Coast Valley League with a 3-0 record — hadn’t played a game, the Coast Union softball team traveled to Shandon on Tuesday and blanked the Outlaws 23-0 in five innings.

Freshman Ani Corbet pitched five strong innings, striking out 11, walking one, and giving up no hits. Senior Remy Corbet had a terrific game at the plate, ripping a grand slam and a triple while driving in six runs for the Lady Broncos.

Senior Patty Bucio hit safely in five at-bats, and drove in two runs, while junior Maddie May was 2 for 3 with three runs driven in.

After winning at Shandon, Coast Union is 4-0 in the CVL, leading second-place Valley Christian Academy by a game and a half.

The next home game for Coast Union is Friday, April 17, against Cuyama Valley, a 3:30 p.m. start.
