The Cambria Youth Athletic Association’s third in a series of summer volleyball clinics will be held at the Santa Lucia Middle School in Cambria on Tuesday, July 29. Students in fourth through eighth grades who are interested in learning the game of volleyball are urged to attend.
The cost for the three-hour clinic (9 a.m. to noon) is $30; signup sheets are available at the General Store in the West Village of Cambria, and for those who may need financial support, scholarships are available, according to Daniel Rod-riguez, first-year volleyball coach at the middle school.
Rodriguez, who also serves as family advocate for the community of Cambria — sponsored by The Link — said experienced and inexperienced students will focus on passing drills, serving and “a lot of footwork.” He said attendees will be asked to “extend a lot of effort” and to show “a lot of desire.”
He made clear that height is not as important as enthusiasm, being “scrappy” and learning defensive skills. More information is available by calling Rodriguez at 674-9505.
