Coast Union falls to Nipomo, Liberty in girls tennis action

The tough times for Coast Union’s 0-5 varsity tennis team continued Saturday, Sept. 19, as Liberty High School came to Cambria and shut the Lady Broncos out, 9-0. 

Coast’s top seed, Maddie May, went down 2-6, 6-4, 4-7 and the No. 3 doubles team of Leticia Mercado and Savannah Lyon lost 7-9.

The Lady Broncos played at Nipomo on Monday Sept, 21, and were topped, 11-7. However, Mercado and Lyon won two of three sets in doubles, 2-6, 6-3, 6-4, and the doubles pair of Lindy Ortiz and Rebeca Tavera won two of three doubles sets as well, 4-6-6-1, 6-1. 

The next home match for the Coast Union girls tennis squad is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. Oct. 1 against Laguna Blanca.
