Music to her ears
If you missed the Symphonie Jeunesse a week ago Saturday, you missed an event that touched a lot of people.
Young people — mostly high school age, all dressed in black, well behaved, bright, enthusiastic — from the San Bernardino area came to Cambria to put on their annual symphony concert.
Michele Brosseau Tacchia, sister to Cambria resident and professional violinist Robert Brosseau, has donated her time for close to 10 years so these students who have a passion for music but may not be able to afford advanced music lessons can realize their potential. She introduced several who had received scholarships and were soon to be off to new horizons.

Their program ranged from “Let It Go” for the younger audience to “Carpe Diem!” to “Concerto in G Major” to Melrose Avenue “Danza Arabia,” an exciting piece they had never played in its entirety to an audience. A day later, one man stopped us on the street in front of Mojo’s to ask if we had gone and said, “It was so good — I was sitting on the edge of my seat!”
Another in line at the Cambria Pharmacy was disappointed that he had not been made aware that the group was in town.
The most telling was from a local guy who emailed at 10:40 the evening of the concert: “Thank you sooooo much these kids put my faith back in the youth of this country.”
A great big thank-you to those who attended and to the Santa Rosa Church on Main Street for their comfortable and beautiful facilities.
