'Butterflies Are Free' opens at Cambria's Pewter Plough Playhouse

Kelli Howard will direct “Butterflies Are Free,” Leonard Gershe’s comedy about love, determination and overcoming life’s hurdles, from March 27 to April 26 at the Pewter Plough Playhouse.

Joseph Whittington portrays Don Baker, a young man blind from birth who has broken free from his controlling mother and moved in next door to a free-spirited neighbor named Jill in New York City. Other featured cast members are Libby Parker, Janice Peters and Jonathon Weise. 

A preview performance will be staged Friday, March 27, at 7:30 p.m., with tickets priced at $17. Tickets for the Gala Champagne Opening, set for 7:30 p.m. Saturday, March 28, are $30 and include a special after-show party featuring champagne, desserts and the music of pianist/vocalist Dave Manion.

Performances will continue at 7:30 p.m. on all Fridays and Saturdays through April 26, along with 3 p.m. matinees on Sundays. Performance dates are March 27, 28 and 29, and April 3, 4, 5, 10, 11, 12, 17, 18, 19, 24, 25 and 26.

Ticket prices for regular performances are $22 or $17 for students with ID. Groups of 10 or more receive a 10 percent discount with single advance payment. For reservations, contact the box office at 927-3877 or visit www.pewterploughplayhouse.org.
